It's Fun to Do Bad Things

December Report

I really wanted to have the game done by now. It only bloated one or two scenes that I didn't figure I'd write but word wise it is much longer than I thought. But boy, I didn't post an update on that first day of the month and here it is on the sixth and my third Wednesday will be on the fifteenth. It is what it is.

Today, I am working on the background for the final scene. It is as big as the two billboards from chapter 2 but I am lighting it such a way that I won't be using a night filter over the whole thing that tells you it is the night times. On a related note, I have also restrained some of the word-play because people kept mistaking that for grammar errors and they forgot this isn't an English class. It is probably still in there. Saying things wrong is fun.

My work process is fun. I do what excites me. I make an outline and mostly write it in order. If I get jazzed about a certain piece, I'll throw myself at it. If I am less excited to write a scene because it is boring then I'll find a twist for it to make it exciting. I really hope that comes out in the reading as much as I put it in the writing.
Other game devs go from one scene to the next and develop both of the visuals and the words then go onto the next scene. That seems like a very complete way to work rather than utter chaos. You can kind of tell with some games that scenes feel disconnected. Which is fine. There are probably people who think my game feels disconnected. Good for them, those glorious, burning darlings.
Anyway, If I developed the game scene by scene, I'd be very tempted to release the update early in whatever form I had it in. But I didn't so I'll shut up.

I have two endings written and I am in the middle of the big happy ending. For a while, I was worried about the ratio of words that are sexual to those that are build-up but I'm not worried about that anymore.
