Romancing the Sun is not an Adult Visual Novel. Well, the subject matter is mature to coming of age level but there isn't nudity in the game and none is planned. I thought of this problem in planning and design of the game but I have no evidence.

I use the Daz 3d to make the character models and images for the game. There are a lot of games that use Daz, which I like and have enjoyed, and part of making a game is hopefully getting to know some other game devs. Those games are partially porn and are meant for adults.

I have two worries. People will see my game and pass because they don't want anything erotic. Or, people will play my game expecting those erotice scenes and get mad that there are none.

I hope that the writing and design are good enough for people to forgive the lack of porn but I don't really have a way to get people to play the game if they avoided it because they thought it would get sexy.

Again, these fears are unfounded. No one has told me they are avoiding erotica or think people are wearing too much clothing.

I don't really know why Daz is used for less spicy games. I really like the realistic style and how many more options I have than if I had to suddenly learn to draw because I wanted to share a story through a visual novel.

Though, this wasn't sudden. I've had a design dock for Day Trippers (the old working title) sense 2017.  The art style was always something that had a big question mark until I learned about DAZ. I was really excited to get the project rolling.

I assume it all comes down to skillset. All I have is writing. If I was more experienced with 3d modeling, maybe I would be really hyped to model some genitalia just crushing one another. Just crushing each other. Just smashing.

My coder partner probably wouldn't go with that.

Anyways, it seems like it is specifically a cultural thing on itchio. Some of the people that I showed the demo to had no idea.

Is this all in my head? How big of deal is it to look like some of the more erotic games?
